Merck Foundation CEO a également rencontré le Ministre de la Santé du Sénégal, Hon. Abdoulaye Diouf Sarr pour discuter de la procédure à suivre pour fournir une bourse de formation d'un an et de deux ans en oncologie aux médecins sénégalais pour les cinq prochaines années. Ils ont également discuté de la formation des spécialistes en fertilité pour améliorer l'accès à des soins de fertilité de qualité dans le pays. En outre, les programmes incluront également la délivrance d'une formation et un diplôme en diabète en français pour améliorer les soins du diabète au Sénégal.

Abdoulaye Diouf Sarr. La Merck Foundation a également discuté de la préparation de la 5ème édition de 'Merck Africa Asia Luminary' 2018 à Dakar au Sénégal.



Organisation Mondiale de la Santé - L'OMS a invité Dr. Rasha Kelej, CEO Merck Foundation, à partager son expérience dans la conduite de la campagne de 'Merck More Than a Mother' pour améliorer l'accès aux soins de fertilité et briser la stigmatisation des femmes infertiles. Une table ronde a été organisée lors de la conférence régionale de l'OMS pour les Ministres de la Santé d'Afrique afin de discuter de l'inclusion des soins de fertilité dans l'agenda mondial de la santé.









A propose du Merck Oncology Fellowship Program

Le Merck Oncology Fellowship Program, une initiative clé du Merck Cancer Access Program, vise à renforcer les capacités grâce à l’éducation et à la formation médicales.

Le manque de moyens financiers n’est pas le seul défi en Afrique et dans les pays en développement, mais la pénurie de personnel de santé qualifié capable de s’attaquer à la prévention, au diagnostic précoce et à la gestion du cancer à tous les niveaux des systèmes de santé est encore plus difficile.

Merck Oncology Fellowship Program se concentre sur le renforcement des capacités professionnelles en matière de traitement du cancer dans le but d’augmenter le nombre limité d’oncologues en Afrique et dans les pays en développement. Le programme offre un programme de bourses d'un an au Tata Memorial Center - Inde, un programme de bourses d'oncologie d'un an et demi à l'Université de Malaya en Malaisie, deux années d'oncologie à l'Université de Nairobi au Kenya et deux ans d'oncologie médicale à Université du Caire - Égypte, en partenariat avec les ministères africains de la santé, des gouvernements locaux et des universités.

Lancé en 2016, plus de 43 candidats provenant de plus de 17 pays africains ont participé au programme de bourses en oncologie de Merck. Le programme continuera à renforcer les capacités de traitement du cancer dans des pays africains tels que le Botswana, le Cameroun, la RCA, l'Ethiopie, la Gambie, le Ghana, la Guinée, le Libéria, Maurice, la Namibie, le Niger, le Nigeria, le Rwanda, le

A propos de la campange ‘Merck More Than a Mother’:

Dans de nombreuses cultures, les femmes sans enfant souffrent de discrimination, de stigmatisation et d'ostracisme. Leur incapacité à avoir des enfants entraîne un grand isolement, l'exhérédation et des agressions. « Merck More Than a Mother » habilite ces femmes à travers l'accès à l'information, la santé, le changement de mentalité et l'autonomisation économique.

Dans le cadre de cette campagne, nous avons lancé le projet « Empowering Berna » en Afrique pour aider les femmes infertiles et sans enfant à lancer leur propre commerce et ainsi devenir indépendantes financièrement et devenir plus fortes et plus heureuses. Le projet a bénéficié à plus de 1 000 femmes à travers le continent.

En outre, une partie de la campagne est notre programme de Formation en Embryologie & en Fertilité de Merck, un cours pratique de trois mois pour établir la plate-forme de spécialistes de la fertilité en Afrique et en Asie.

La Merck Foundation a fourni à plus de 50 candidats, trois mois à six mois de formation clinique et pratique aux spécialistes de la fertilité et aux embryologistes dans plus de 29 pays d'Afrique et d'Asie tels que: Tchad, Niger, République centrafricaine, Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana, Éthiopie, Ouganda, Kenya, Tanzanie, Zambie, Nigeria, Bénin, Mali, Burkina Faso, Sénégal, Guinée Conakry, Sierra Leone, Libéria, Cameroun, Rwanda, Botswana, République démocratique du Congo, Congo Brazzaville, Gambie, Népal, Siri Lanka, Bangladesh, Myanmar et Cambodge.

La Merck Foundation entre dans l'histoire de nombreux pays africains où elle n'a jamais eu de spécialistes en fertilité ou de cliniques de fertilité spécialisées avant l'intervention de « Merck More Than a Mother » pour former les premiers spécialistes en fertilité tels que ; en Sierra Leone, au Libéria, en Gambie, au Niger, au Tchad et en Guinée. 

La Merck Foundation a soutenu la création des premiers centres publics de FIV en Éthiopie et en Ouganda en fournissant la formation clinique et pratique nécessaire à leur personnel. La Merck Foundation prévoit également de soutenir la mise en place de la première FIV publique en Tanzanie prochainement.

« Merck More Than a Mother » lancée en 2015, est un programme de la Merck Foundation, la fondation pilote nombre de nos initiatives et programmes dans le domaine du renforcement de soins de santé et de capacité en recherche et améliore l'accès à des solutions de soins de santé équitables.
